알폰소 성인은 16969년 이탈리아 나폴리의 한 귀족 가문에서 태어났다. 어머니의 영향으로 어려서부터 신심이 두터웠던 그는 법학을 공부하여 변호사로 활동하다가 사제의 길을 선택하였다. 1726년 사제품을 받은 알폰소는 '지극히 거룩한 구속주회'를 설립하고, 올바른 그리스도인 생활을 위한 설교와 저술에 많은 힘을 기울였다. 그는 나폴리 근처에 있는 고티의 교구장 주교로 활동하다가 다시 수도회로 돌아가 1787년에 선종하였다. 1839년 그레고리오 16세 교황은 윤리 신학의 대가로 존경받던 알폰소 주교를 시성하였다.

하느님, 하느님의 교회에 언제나 새로운 덕행의 모범을 보여 주시니, 영혼들을 사랑하는 복된 알폰소 주교의 열정을 본받아, 저희도 마침내 하늘 나라에서 그가 받은 상급을 받게 하소서. 성부와 성령과 함께 천주로서 영원히 살아 계시며 다스리시는 성자 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 비나이다.

제1독서 < 주님께서는 모세와 얼굴을 마주하여 말씀하시곤 하였다. >

▥  탈출기의 말씀입니다.( 33,7-11;34,5-9.28 )

그 무렵 7 모세는 천막을 챙겨 진영 밖으로 나가 진영에서 멀리 떨어진 곳에 그것을 치곤 하였다. 모세는 그것을 만남의 천막이라 불렀다. 주님을 찾을 일이 생기면, 누구든지 진영 밖에 있는 만남의 천막으로 갔다. 

8 모세가 천막으로 갈 때면, 온 백성은 일어나 저마다 자기 천막 어귀에 서서, 모세가 천막으로 들어갈 때까지 그 뒤를 지켜보았다.

9 모세가 천막으로 들어가면, 구름 기둥이 내려와 천막 어귀에 머무르고, 주님께서 모세와 말씀을 나누셨다. 10 구름 기둥이 천막 어귀에 마무르는 것을 보면, 온 백성은 일어나 저마다 자기 천막 어귀에서 경배하였다. 

11 주님께서는 마치 사람이 자기 친구에게 말하듯, 모세와 얼굴에 마주하여 말씀하시곤 하였다. 모세가 진영으로 돌아온 뒤에도, 그의 젊은 시종, 눈의 아들 여호수아는 천막 안을 떠나지 않았다.

34,5 주님께서 모세와 함께 서시어, '야훼'라는 이름을 선포하셨다. 6 주님께서는 모세 앞을 지나가며 선포하셨다. "주님은, 주님은, 자비하고 너그러운 하느님이다. 분노에 더디고, 자애와 진실이 충만하며, 7 천대에 이르기까지 자애를 베풀고, 죄악과 악행과 잘못을 용서한다. 그러나 벌하지 않은 채 내버려 두지 않고, 조상들의 죄악을, 아들 손자들을 거쳐, 삼 대 사 대까지 벌한다."

8 모세는 얼른 땅에 무릎을 꿇어 경배하며 9 아뢰었다. "주님, 제가 정녕 당신 눈에 든다면, 주님께서 저희와 함께 가 주시기를 바랍니다. 이 백성이 목이 뻣뻣하기는 하지만, 저희 죄악과 저희 잘못을 용서하시고, 저희를 당신 소유로 삼아 주시기를 바랍니다."

28 모세는 그곳에서 주님과 함께 밤낮으로 사십 일을 지내면서, 빵도 먹지 않고 물도 마시지 않았다. 그는 계약의 말슴, 곧 십계명을 판에 기록하였다.

33,7 The tent, which was called the meeting tent, Moses used to pitch at some distance away, outside the camp. Anyone who wished to consult the LORD would go to this meeting tent outside the camp. 8 Whenever Moses went out to the tent, the people would all rise and stand at the entrance of their own tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses entered the tent, the column of cloud would come down and stand at its entrance while the LORD spoke with Moses. 10 On seeing the column of cloud stand at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise and worship at the entrance of their own tents. 11 The LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as one man speaks to another. Moses would then return to the camp, but his young assistant, Joshua, son of Nun, would not move out of the tent. 

34,5 Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with him there and proclaimed his name, "LORD." 6 Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, "The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity, 7 continuing his kindness for a thousand generations, and forgiving wickedness and crime and sin; yet not declaring the guilty guiltless, but punishing children and grandchildren to the third and fourth generation for their fathers' wickedness!" 8 Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. 9 Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own."

28 So Moses stayed there with the LORD for forty days and forty nights, without eating any food or drinking any water, and he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

복음 < 가라지를 거두어 불에 태우듯이, 세상 종말에도 그렇게 될 것이다. >

♣  마태오가 전한 거룩한 복음입니다.( 13,36-43 )

그때에 36 예수님께서 군중을 떠나 집으로 가셨다. 그러자 제자들이 그분께 다가와, "밭의 가라지 비유를 저희에게 설명해 주십시오."하고 청하였다. 37 예수님께서 이렇게 이르셨다.

"좋은 씨를 뿌리는 이는 사람의 아들이고, 38 밭은 세상이다. 그리고 좋은 씨는 하늘 나라의 자녀들이고 가라지들은 악한 자의 자녀들이며, 39 가라지를 뿌린 원수는 악마다. 그리고 수확 때는 세상 종말이고 일꾼들은 천사들이다.

40 그러므로 가라지를 거두어 불에 태우듯이, 세상 종말에도 그렇게 될 것이다. 41 사람의 아들이 자기 천사들을 보낼 터인데, 그들은 그의 나라에서 남을 죄짓게 하는 모든 자들과 불의를 저지르는 자들을 거두어, 42 불구덩이에 던져 버릴 것이다. 그러면 그들은 거기에서 울며 이를 갈 것이다. 

43 그때에 의인들은 아버지의 나라에서 해처럼 빛날 것이다. 귀 있는 사람은 들어라."

36 Then, dismissing the crowds, he went into the house. His disciples approached him and said, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field." 37 He said in reply, "He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, 38 the field is the world, the good seed the children of the kingdom. The weeds are the children of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all who cause others to sin and all evildoers. 42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears ought to hear.
